What are TMJ Problems…

… and where do they come from?

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ, for short) is the jaw joint that connects the lower jaw (mandible) to the skull (temporal bone) in front of the ear. Certain facial muscles that control chewing are also attached to the lower jaw. []

The relative space between the upper and lower jaw is ideal

The relative space between the upper and lower jaws is reduced - the disk is compressed and is popping in and out

the jaw joint space has collapsed - teeth are wearing down and the tongue has no space
